You Only Get One Face

The past few weeks a friend and I have been testing out homemade makeup remover and facial cleansing recipes and even busting a few myths. We've risked multiple break outs and eye burns to finally present our list of top 3 remedies that will not irritate skin or send you running for the first aid kit eye flush.

Remedy #1
This is actually my new absolute favorite easy remedy in the entire world - Olive oil! That's it. I've heard it is an amazing natural makeup remover but never bothered putting it to the test. You will, of course, need a facial soap or cleanser of some sort to cleanse the skin of the oil after makeup removal. The best way I've found it works is soaking a cotton ball or cotton round with the olive oil and holding it on the eye for a few seconds to really let the oil seep in. Then I just gently rub and voilĂ ! It will remove even the most expensive waterproof formulas.

Recipe #1
Strawberry Facial Cleansing Lotion
This is an amazing recipe for full face cleansing and moisturizing, no other cleansing products needed. This leaves your skin feeling radiant, naturally moisturized, refreshed, clean and makeup free.

Ingredients:
6 Strawberries
2 Tablespoons Almond Oil
3 Tablespoons Witch Hazel

Directions:
Blend all the ingredients together until it has a nice smooth texture. Whenever I need to wash my face I massage gently for about a minute and wipe clean with a fresh, warm, moistened wash cloth. Store in fridge between uses.

Recipe #2
Cleanser and Toner
This recipe is very moisturizing, breaks up even the toughest waterproof makeup and will leave your skin feeling nice and clean. I personally use this recipe and call it a day, but my friend that was helping to give a second opinion felt the need to go behind and wash with one of my facial purifying bars.

Ingredients:
2 Tablespoons Witch Hazel
1 Tablespoon Almond, Jojoba or Baby Oil
1 Teaspoon Glycerin
1 Teaspoon Rose Water

Directions:
Mix together in the glass container you want to store the product in. Give it a little shake, moisten either a cotton ball or cotton round and hold over toughest eye makeup for 30 seconds to a minute. Gently rub away all makeup. Finish off by running the same or a new moistened cotton ball or cotton round over the rest of your face until clean and makeup free.
